We are following a number of breaking news stories tonight.

Israel has launched a preemptive strike against Iran.

We're keeping a very close eye on that and what it could mean for the region.

As I just noted, we don't entirely know yet what they hit if there will be more strikes

and what the response will be.

So we will bring you all of that as we get any updates.

We also just got a judge's order on Donald Trump's deployment of troops in Los Angeles,

where the judge returned control of the National Guard to the governor of California effective tomorrow.

As I just said to Chris, I just had somebody run this out to me. We're just going through it.

We'll bring that to you as well.

Today we also saw U.S. Senator Alex Bedea physically forced to the ground and handcuffed at a press conference with Homeland Security Secretary Christy Noem after he attempted to ask her a question.

Joining me now is Democratic Senator Adam Schiff of California. Senator Schiff, I'm always grateful to talk to you, especially in a night like this where there is just so much news to comb through. I want to start. I mean, just in the last hour, we learned that the Israeli military has begun air strikes against Iran. We are still learning what they hit. We don't know if there will be more strikes.

What is your reaction to that?

How concerned are you about where this might be headed?

Well, you can't be that surprised by the strikes because the president talked openly about the need to get American forces and others in the region out of potentially harm's way.

So the President of the United States was essentially telegraphing that this might happen.

That in itself is extraordinary because, of course, Israel, if they're going to undertake this kind of operation,

wants the element of surprise, which it undoubtedly did not have.

But also you have this statement that you were just alluding to by Rubio, where it's clear

that there is some tension between where the administration is and where Israel is.

Now I think we all need to wait and see just what kind of operation this is, how extensive it is.

From the Israel side, it sounds like they're intending to have this go on for a period of time.
