NBC News can now report that former President Donald Trump has been indicted in the special

counsel's investigation into his alleged mishandling of classified documents. The indictment

was filed in federal district court in Miami. Trump has been summoned to appear in a

federal courthouse again in Miami, Florida on June 13th, which is next Tuesday, at 3 p.m.

Eastern. NBC can also report that Trump has been indicted on at least seven counts. We

know that two of those charges are making false statements and conspiracy to obstruct justice.

The New York Times reports that those charges also include willfully retaining national

defense secrets in violation of the Espionage Act, according to People familiar with the

matter. NBC News has not independently verified that reporting. It is important to note here

that a conspiracy charge requires at least two people. This is now the second indictment

that Trump has faced since leaving office after Manhattan prosecutors charged him with

34 felony counts earlier this year over alleged hush money payments. In a post on his

truth social media site announcing the indictment, Trump wrote, the corrupt Biden administration

has informed my attorneys that I have been indicted. I am an innocent man. And tonight,

Trump posted a four minute video repeatedly claiming that the investigation is a hoax

and that it is politically motivated. They can't stop because it's election interference

at the highest level. There's never been anything like what's happened. They figured

the way they're going to stop us is by using what's called warfare. And that's what it

is. This is warfare for the law. But it's called election interference. They're trying
