I'm not losing my mind. There's just a fly in here with us. Now, I'm going to let you into a little

criminal broads lore. There was once, oh God, it's hard to say this next sentence.

There was once a cockroach in here with me as I was recording one of these intros or outros.

And I was chatting along into the mic, doing as I'm told. And I looked up and I fully made eye contact with this creature who was pointing

its antenna's antenna eye at me very aggressively. And let's just say once, you know, I was professional.

I was a quintessential professional throughout. But once all that was over, there was a battle to the death in this little

recording room. Okay. And that's all I'll say. Okay. I said this was a true crime history podcast. We often go

very historical. Today we're not going to be that historical. We're going to the year 2010. What was I doing in 2010, you ask? Thank you for asking.

I was working my very first job at a children's literature magazine, cricket magazine, the best

children's magazine in the world. And you might laugh and say, oh, children's literature to true crime, how the mighty have fallen.

But I would say to you that as all great children's authors know, like Tolkien and Sendak, there is no story without darkness.

There is no story.

There is no good story that doesn't involve some grappling with the darkness. There is no story. There is no good story that doesn't involve some

grappling with the darkness, which is why we're all here today. Okay, today's story is very dark.
