He believed his wife, Mrs. Fox, no longer loved him.

So he decided to test her.

He laid down beside the sofa, stretched himself out, and did not move a muscle.

Mrs. Fox was terribly upset, and thinking her husband dead, she went upstairs and locked herself in her room.

Miss Cat, the fox was made, stayed by the fire downstairs and did all the cooking.

When it became known that Mr. Fox had died, suitors began to call on Mrs. Fox.

Miss Cat heard one knocking on the door.

She opened it and saw that it was a young fox.

He said, What fools your day, Miss Cat?
