Friends, we are going back to 1991, spinning some yarns with some old friends,

celebrating the 30th anniversary of Accura's breakthrough performance and endurance racing,

big time endurance racing, their class victory, the IMSA GTTP Lights class, also known as Camelites,

victory at the 1991, Sunbank 24 hours of Daytona, what we know today is the Rolex 24th, Daytona.

What's unique about this victory of theirs? It was the very first race. Their debut, the CompTech racing team out of the greater

Sacramento area in Northern California, really and truly Accura's first factory program, something

that we look back on for those who happen to see it, all that they did and really truly respect.

Don Irb and a lot of good folks that made many miraculous things happen in 91 30 years ago

well they showed up for their debut and won the freaking thing and didn't just win it by a little

bit 22 lap lead and won the freaking thing and didn't just win it by a little bit.

22 lap lead after 24 hours.

Doug Peterson, as I mentioned, not only co-owner, but also one of the drivers,

champion driver in particular in the smaller international sedan series,

Parker Johnstone, someone who would go on to compete in

cart, IndyCar series as well. Parker, the lead driver for sure. Two of my old bosses completing

the driver rotation. Bob Lesnett, owner of Fife Ridge Racing, where I really grew up in the sport

as a young mechanic

learning all the finer things about pro racing.

And then right across from us at Sears Point, Steve Cameron, Cameron McGee Motorsports,

which I worked for after Fife Ridge.

Well, Steve, aka Kiwi, he was the fourth member of that driver rotation.
