Just dropping in to let you know, this episode was originally recorded and released as a subscriber exclusive right around this time last year. Back then, it was a bonus episode that was part of our super deep dive into the

Jonestown conspiracy. The subject of this episode in particular is the 2013 found footage

horror film The Sacrament, which was loosely and or very faithfully based on the Jonestown

tragedy, depending on how you look at it.

The names of the people and locations are changed, and it's set in the 2010s, but also a lot of what

happens in the movie is a beat-for-beat retelling of Congressman Leo Ryan's disastrous visit

to Jonestown.

Except in this case, it's a group of vice journalists, and one of them is trying to rescue his sister.

So it's like if instead of the government sending someone cool to check out Jones Town, they sent a bunch of vice reporters.

We're re-releasing the episode now for a couple of reasons.

First and most important, as you might have noticed last week, the show is on a very, very short break.

And by that, I mean, we'll be back to releasing new episodes next week.

As for why we landed on this particular episode to cover our vacation is because it's at least tangentially related to something happening right now.

That something is a horror movie called X, which is in theaters right now.

It's an A24 production, so it's getting a lot of buzz for that reason alone.

The people who brought you lamb.

If you haven't seen lamb, holy shit.

But also, the reviews are good, and the movie is good.

I saw it yesterday.

Very weird, very creepy.

Very much did not realize one of the characters was rapper Kid Cuddy in real life.
