Summary

Eight years ago, what was supposed to be a pleasant date night for Chad Oulson and his wife turned deadly when a confrontation over sending a text message in a movie theatre turned deadly. Retired police captain Curtis Reeves confronted Oulson about the cell phone, an argument ensued, a bag of popcorn was thrown and then a shot rang out, killing Oulson. Chad Reeves claims he had no choice but to shoot him because he feared for his life, prosecutors say he was the instigator who went out of his way to escalate the situation and now a jury must decide if Reeves, who is now 79, is guilty of manslaughter. 1:08.0	And it's not because, oh, we shouldn't cover this case, it's because of how old this case is and how long it has taken to bring it in front of a jury.
1:21.1	I'm talking about a case, Curtis Reeves is the defendant. He was 71 years old at the time and he was in the movie theater and gets into an argument about a man who was sitting in the row in front of him who was texting.
1:36.3	And this isn't during the movie, this is before the movie starts, but he's texting,
1:40.3	maybe during previews, and they get into an argument. Reeves goes to the
1:45.0	manager and then comes back from the manager and there's and the argument
1:49.4	continues and it gets to the point where Chad Olson who is the man who's there out on a date with his wife
1:57.0	They have a young baby at home. They finally get a night off. He was actually texting the babysitter
2:02.2	and the argument gets heated and there's video of it
2:06.8	but you only really see Curtis Reeves and then at one point you see Chad Olson's

2:15.0	at one point you see Chad Olson's arms come into the screen as it appears he's tossing a bag of popcorn at Curtis Reeves
2:20.0	and instantaneously you see Reeves arm go up he fires his gun shoots and
2:26.5	kills Chad Olson he's claiming self-defense that's the basic setup but all this
