It's a 70-day devotional guide meant to push your life forward, meant to get you moving, not philosophizing,

not thinking, but actually moving. This week we're working through the first seven days of content

together. Almost there. Almost. It's time for the second to last day, day six.

Six.

You are his son.

Romans 8, 15 to 17 says,

For you do not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear,

but you have received the spirit of adoption of sons by whom we cry, Abba, Father.

The spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs.

Heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

Abba isn't just the name of a Swedish band from the 70s. What's the name in the game? Some of us remember that old song. It's also an ancient word that means daddy.

That is a word I don't remember ever calling my dad.

I was adopted as an infant, and as great as my family was, I always felt something was off.

Was it because we weren't an emotionally expressive family, or was it because I had been

separated from my own biological parents at birth? Though I don't know the cause, I now know

what I was feeling. Despite the fact that I had been adopted, I was still living like an orphan,

and I suspect many of you continue to do the same thing today

long after leaving your parents' houses.

The orphan mindset is one of emotional, intellectual, and spiritual slavery.

We don't feel free to enjoy life even when we are doing well.
