SCRIPTURE

Proverbs 13:2-3, 14

Vs. 2-3 - From the fruit of his mouth a man eats what is good,
but the desire of the treacherous is for violence.
3 Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life;
he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.

vs. 14 - The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life,
that one may turn away from the snares of death.

All right, today we are in Proverbs chapter 13.

We're going to be looking at three verses, verses two through three and verse 14.

I've decided to couple verses together from the chapters in Proverbs that have similar

themes and similar topics.

And today we're going to be talking about what I'm referring to as mouth fruit.

Now obviously that is a strange word and a strange way to say it.

But the first verse says from the fruit of his mouth, a man eats what is good.

So stop for a moment and think about that.

Your lips, your mouth, is like a tree in the sense that it produces fruit.

There are things that come out of your mouth, things that your mouth produces that can

be sweet and delicious to others who hear it or it can be bitter and sour and actually

upset the stomach.

And so we need to consider the fruit that is coming from our mouths.
