54 years ago, on July 17, 1955, at 4.45 p.m., Walt Disney stood here in Town Square and dedicated Disneyland to the young at heart,

with the hope that it would become a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.

Since that momentous day, over 500 million guests have entered this magic kingdom.

From the most prominent American presidents and international heads of states to sports figures, entertainers, authors, scientists, mothers and fathers, grandparents, sisters and brothers,

and the tiniest tauts from the smallest towns in all the world.

Each one of them, like all of you here today, has forever become part of the magic

known round the globe at Disneyland.

And now, let's all come together and listen to that original dedication, as delivered by Walt Disney himself

underneath that flagpole

here in Town Square on opening day,

July 17, 1965.

For all the council of this happy place, welcome.

This land is your life.

Here he is its fond memories of the past.

And here you, they're sitting this challenge and promise of the future.

This Newland is sending in to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have free and merit,

with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration from all the world.
