I met hello and welcome to amen podcast where we preach the good news of Jesus Christ and how it

applies to everyday life. I'm looking on your host and today my husband Alex is preaching about

happiness is morning. We're looking at Matthew chapter 5 verse 4 which reads those who mourn our

fortunate for they shall be comforted this is the living Bible translation why would Jesus say

those who mourn are fortunate we think of a person who is mourning the death of someone

do you think they are fortunate do you look at them out of funeral and say wow how fortunate

this person is to be mourning no so why would Jesus say this he's saying this because he's revealing

to us why we need to mourn and later we'll learn from the same verse why we can't mourn

and how to mourn but you might be thinking Alex why do I want a mourn I want to try to mourn as

least as possible in this life I don't want to lose people that I love he's not necessarily talking

about losing someone you love as much as he as talking about losing sin that you love all of us

love sin the word mourn means to grieve so Jesus is saying those who grieve over their sin

those who look at their sin and it grieves them they are those who are fortunate but why are they

fortunate it's because they shall be comforted if you grieve over your sin if your sin grieves you

if you're not the kind of person who's just like I'm sin I'm not no big deal sin doesn't

only matter to me whatever on to the next thing but if sin grieves you Jesus says you will be

comforted the word comfort it means to call alongside so look when one of our kids gets hurt like in

example tonight while you're making dinner tell us what happened and what do you do when our

kids get hurt um we have a glass stove top and so I had just finished um grabbing the noodles

that that were done the pasta noodles that were done on the stove and transferring them over to

the sink to drain them strain them and as I was doing that Lucy came over to the kitchen

and she likes there's like a little where the broiler I think they call it at the very bottom
