So today's question is, how and why does one of the best skiers in North America become a farmer?

Well, today in part three of our miniseries on mountain towns and local food systems,

our guest is Solomon skier Chris Rubens, who, in addition to flashing pillow lines on film for the past couple of decades,

has started First Light Farm with his partner Jesse in Revelstoke, BC.

And so I, along with my wonderful co-host, Kara Williard, who is herself, as you know, a passionate farmer and skier,

we talk to Chris about that how and that why.

We get into the specifics of what it is like farming in Revelstoke.

And of course, we do definitely sneak a good bit of ski talk in there,

but perhaps most interestingly,

Chris had really meaningful things to say about the parallels that he thinks about all the time

between skiing and farming. And perhaps above all, I think Chris and

Kara make an extremely compelling case, why this actually shouldn't be viewed as some very

strange thing that someone might be extremely passionate about skiing and also farming,

but how these two activities actually work so well together. And I think some of you might be surprised to hear Chris talk about

just how meaningful the work of farming has become to him. This is another excellent conversation in our series.
