Okay, as we get started here, I think we should take stock of where things are currently at.

I am recording this introduction on Monday morning, August 30th, and as I am doing so,

massive fires are drawing closer and closer to South Lake Tahoe.

So while we have been talking about this crisis in affordable housing, well, we are also dealing with a crisis of megafires.

And our guest today, Scott Ailert, is here to make clear how these two things are related and what solutions we have to mitigate both.

Honestly, my conversation with Scott touches on such massive topics that it feels difficult

to neatly summarize.

But these massive topics are crucial ones for all of us to better understand.

And as Scott makes crystal clear, we need to not merely understand these things. We need to take

action right now, not two or three or four years from now. And Scott talks about some of the things

that we can do right now to expedite the process of putting concrete solutions in place, ASAP. Bottom line, I think this third

conversation in our series is a really important addition to the conversations we've had with

Dr. Jenny Stuber and with Troy Russ. So please listen to those conversations if you haven't done so

already.

Basically, what Scott underscores for us today is that we are in an emergency,

in our small little mountain towns and across the entire globe.

And we are going to need to adjust course quickly in order to save both.
