Mike Simpson has served over three decades in the military as an Airborne Ranger, a Special Forces Operator, and finally as a Doctor of Emergency Medicine assigned to the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC). Throughout his career, Mike has deployed to 17 different countries, from counter-narcotics operations in the jungles of South America, to the Global War on Terror (GWOT) in Southwest Asia and North Africa.

Along the way, Mike has been trained as a demolitions expert, SWAT Sniper, High Altitude Low Opening (HALO) parachutist, civilian paramedic, Special Forces Medic, Operations and intelligence Sergeant, and finally, a board certified Emergency Medicine Physician.

Mike is also a martial arts enthusiast, who trains in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai. His passion for martial arts motivated him to become a practicing fight doctor. As one of the foremost experts in both tactical trauma medicine and combat sports medicine, Mike is highly sought after as a lecturer and instructor, working extensively with Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighters, law enforcement, and military organizations providing medical care and training. He co-stars on Hunting Hitler on the History Channel.

0:45.2	Today I want to talk a little bit about something that is in the news.
0:50.3	I dropped a couple of episodes recently talking about Israel. We're certainly going to be talking more about that in the future but not on this particular episode. So what I wanted to talk about the main shooting that happened tragically taking the lives of 18 individuals
1:08.3	and wounding approximately 30 others. That's on everybody's mind. So I wanted to talk a little bit about that. And of course, as if on cue,
1:21.1	the anti-gun nuts come out of the woodwork almost immediately calling for gun
1:26.9	confiscation new gun laws yada yada yada so I going to get into all that.
1:33.1	So what I've done is I pulled a bunch of data
1:36.6	that, you know, those that are familiar
1:38.0	with my old Dr Mike Simpson website,
1:41.1	I had a couple of blogs up that gave kind of by the number statistics on guns in the US, gun crime in the US. I hate that term. I hate the term gun crime. I hate the term gun violence guns don't commit crimes
1:55.0	guns don't commit violence people can make crimes and violence and guns are tools
2:00.2	I broke it down the data that I'm using is primarily from the year 2017, so it's about
2:07.0	six years old, but to be perfectly honest with you, the statistics have not changed significantly.
2:13.7	I just didn't want to recompile all this data
2:15.8	and redo the math.
2:16.8	So what I did is I just pulled it right for my own blog.

2:40.7	shooting. Now I'm not going to use the shooter's name. I am of the opinion that when somebody does something like this we should not keep repeating their name, especially since oftentimes really immortality is what they were going for.
