| 0:57.0 | and sets up a council of federal regulators to watch out for threats. |
| 1:01.0 | Derivatives will be subject to government oversight, and we've got new restrictions on proprietary training and hedge fund activity. |
| 1:09.0 | James Early, obviously, there's a lot there. It's a massive bill. What got your attention? |
| 1:13.0 | Well, Chris, I'm going to go through one by one. |
| 1:17.0 | I would say the biggest thing is derivatives, which sounds boring, but the world has 200 trillion and financial assets, |
| 1:22.0 | but 600 trillion and derivatives outstanding on those same financial assets. |
| 1:26.0 | So it is really the elephant in the room, all of it completely necessary. |
| 1:29.0 | Exactly, exactly. And it's basically four or five top banks that do all the derivatives trading in the US. |
| 1:34.0 | And one thing that I saw was that look like the banks were going to have to spin off their swap desks |
| 1:39.0 | and swaps are a form of derivatives and derivative and come to find out that's not going to happen. |
| 1:46.0 | Basically, swaps that deal with interest rates or with gold or precious metals are exempted, |
| 1:51.0 | and that's 80% or more of swaps. |
