Dan Airelli is a professor of psychology and behavioral economics at Duke University

and the author of two best-sellers, predictably irrational and the upside of irrationality.

His new book is The Honest Truth about dishonesty. How we lie to everyone, especially ourselves.

So we're all liars? What is going on?

Wait, wait, not you, not you, other people, other people.

Oh, thank you, thank you.

So here is the question. I mean, you probably think of yourself as an honest, wonderful, caring

human being, right? No question about it.

No question.

But if you actually went ahead during a regular day and you counted how many times you lie,

what do you think that number would be?

I think it would be in a single digit.

Well, I recommend this experiment, but what is clear is that we lie a lot.

And what's interesting is that we lie a lot, and at the same time, we think of ourselves

as honest.
