Everyone, we decided we wanted to share something super special today from Mother's Day.

This is a series of letters that have been shared with us by the curious, loving, introspective

people who listen to this show.

Our relationships with our mothers are so many things, steadfast, complicated, intense.

I could give you a million other descriptors, but we'll hold there.

There's one common thread.

They are integral to who we are.

How our mothers shape us can highlight the best of us.

It can challenge us deeply and shape the habits that give us so much joy over the course

of our lives.

First step is Leah.

Hi, my name is Leah, and I live in Racine, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan,

and I would like to reach you a letter I wrote to my mother, Carol.

Dear mom, I really appreciate how you have passed down the value of outdoor play throughout

our lifetime.

I recall climbing, swimming, sailing, tromping through the woods for treasures, exploring
