Summary

This week on the WoMed, we have the pleasure of hearing from our first ever certified nurse midwife, Tanya Tringali! Tanya discusses midwifery school, distanced education programs, and the vast range of care midwives offer. She also shares the need for continuing education for older midwives to ensure they can offer transgender healthcare and to ensure their practice is able to serve all women. D and Tanya dive into the primary barrier she believes her patients face, which is the systemic issue of the postpartum care gap. We also learn about Tanya’s company, Mother Wit, which services a wide-range of people; she will take care of anyone in need of support, but is the first to involve a third party if necessary. Throughout the episode, D and Tanya also touch on the relationship between fitness, nutrition, midwifery and pregnancy.
