Being a mother is learning about strengths you didn't know you had, and dealing with fears you didn't know existed. - Linda Wooten

My mother has played such an important role in my life. The greatest examples of leadership and love are from her. Today, I share how she so generously loved to me, my siblings, my father and so many more.

I mentioned my mother was the first guest on the Live Inspired Podcast. Listen to our conversation on ep. 000 here.

On Thursday, award-winning photographer, artist and entrepreneur Jeremy Cowart joins us to share how he's using his influence to change lives across the world.

mother out there or to love a child out there in the same manner in which a mother loves her child,

that quote certainly connects with you the day after Mother's Day. Frequently when I'm out speaking,

0:52.1

people kind of challenge me because I talk a lot about love

0:54.5

when I'm in front of audiences. And I can almost see it in their eyes that they're thinking,

0:58.6

man, love is not enough. It is too soft. It is butterflies, it's rainbows, and that's not leadership.

1:05.8

1:11.8

And yet one of the greatest examples of leadership was also one of the greatest examples of love that I've ever

encountered. And it is the example of my own mother. She is and was one of the great examples of love.

1:24.5

And love is not easy. It is hard hard it holds people accountable it insists on accountability

1:32.4

it demands creativity the progression toward perfection it's far from popular it's not seen everywhere

1:39.6

you go it's not seen in every family that you may enter into but i saw it alive and in living color with my own mother growing up, and I see it today in the way she guides my father Ford in their life together.

1:50.7

As a child, perhaps the most important character for me as I've recovered from Burns on 100% of my body was my mom.

1:59.9

It was my mother.

2:00.7

Yes, the physicians were critical, the EMTs,

2:02.9

Paramount, the firefighters, first responders, my brother Jim, my sisters, my faith, my father,

2:08.0

all of these things, all these elements play together perfectly. And yet without my mother on day one,

2:13.3

without her nine years of instruction leading up to that, And then without her guidance over the last 32 years,

2:18.9

I'm pretty sure that I'm not in front of you today.

2:20.9
