I'm Coach Jonathan Lee, and today is a deep dive episode where we are going to look at the data that we have in our database of cyclists in over 150 countries of all abilities that use Traynor Road.

It's a massive data set, and it's really fun to be able to look at it and ask questions of this data set to then understand maybe there are some patterns or habits that all of us could do to get faster, but also in some cases, just some fun interesting facts. So let's go in and start off with this 1,000 watt example. Now, if you're listening to this podcast episode instead of watching it, I highly recommend that you go on YouTube or Spotify so that you can actually view the video because this is going to be a highly visual episode. I'll try to make it make sense for all those that are listening just the same. So the first query that we're going to look at today is can everyone hit 1,000 watts? And the answer is no, not even close. This question came from Jeremy. Jeremy asked, hey, coaches, help my friend and I settle a

debate. We were discussing sprinters for this year's tour when I confessed I've never hit

1,000 watts. My friend was shocked and said everybody can. So hopefully you can do one of your

data deep dives and prove to my friend that not all of us can do 1,000 watts. Well, yeah,

definitely that's the case. The debate is settled, Jeremy.

We pulled reliable sprint efforts from a study group of over 100,000 athletes who met the

criteria over the last 12 months of data that we were looking at on this. Only about 28% of men

and only about 5% of women ever push over to that 1,000 watt barrier.

Now, we took some, it's really tricky to be able to filter this stuff out.

And I do wanna like kind of go over this because there's one thing to just hit peak 1,000 watts for one second,

but then it's also a bit different in terms of holding it for an actual sprint for a longer time period.

But a lot of power meters actually throw some bad data spikes pretty consistently.

After many years of being able to look at this and understand it and filter things out intelligently,
