I have decided to paint my desk.

Yeah, I know not exactly big event in the life of a writer, but it is. Writers spend huge

chunks of their lives at their desks. As you may remember, I've spent the summer locked

in the throes of a new fervor, redecorating.

My desk is the latest project idea to fall prey to my somewhat questionable painting skills.

Anyway, I've decided a black desk would be the coolest

thing ever so starting tomorrow black the desk will be. But it's also

strangely just concerning to realize this will be the last podcast I record at this desk.

No promises the podcast, or my novels, will be any better at the new shiny black desk.

But hey, you never know, right?

Most common writing mistakes, purple prose.

Words, glorious words. Fellow logophiles, were we not initially drawn to writing because of our sesquipadol amores?

We love words.

We love big words, arcane words, chewy words, beautiful words.

We love combinations of words that are bold, poetic, eloquent, and sometimes

even showy. So it's little wonder many of us risk creating purple prose.

Purple prose, a rather delicious little phrase in its own right,

indicates writing that is not just elaborate, but too elaborate.
