I finished my first edit of my historical superhero work and progress wayfarefair last month.

My main goal for this read through was to trim my excessive word count.

I was aiming for 80,000 cut words, which I knew was a nighion impossible goal to meet.

So I was pretty happy to cut right around 30,000.

It's a start.

The book feels much leaner, tighter, and better for the trimming.

And the manuscript sits right at 170,000 words right now, which is still the longest book I've ever written.

So, whether or not I get to cut anymore, well now largely depend on whether or not my beta readers and editors can help me spot any

scenes or subplots that are extraneous.

After I let the manuscript sit for a couple months, I'll be able to look at it a little

more objectively myself as well.

I'd like to shorten it up for a number of practical reasons, including printing costs and

reader patience.

But as I'm always preaching, a story needs to be exactly how long it needs to be and from the looks of it this one may end up being pretty needy
