0:03.0	And I'm Alicia.
0:04.0	And this is Scripture Study Insights by Scripture Central.
0:08.0	Today, Mosaic chapters 18 through 24.
0:12.0	And I'm so excited to have my sweet daughter Alicia join me.
0:17.0	As we work through these chapters today. These are really powerful and important concepts
0:23.7	and doctrines that we see coming off of the page. And kind of the overlay we wanted to use
0:30.4	for today's lesson as we work through these verses is this concept of the power of covenants
0:38.9	versus the opposite power of bondage.
0:43.6	You'll notice with both of these two elements,
0:47.4	there is a binding that is taking place.
0:53.4	The one is a very positive and agency-based choice that we choose
0:58.8	to bind ourselves to the Lord and he chooses to bind himself to us. And he tells us in the
1:05.6	doctrine and covenants, I the Lord am bound when you do what I say. But when you do not what
1:10.1	I say, you have no promise.
1:12.1	So this is a positive binding. And then there's the negative bonds that come from captivity,
1:21.3	that if we choose to turn our back on the covenants that Christ offers, then we're left with those
1:30.6	flaxen cords that the devil has in store for us and waiting for us.
1:37.9	You know, that's exactly like the people of Alma that we see here in chapter 18. We see
1:42.8	them, they've been in this bondage to King Noah.
1:46.7	They've been living in sin, a spiritual kind of bondage.
1:50.8	And we see them make this transition as Alma teaches them the words of Abinidae,
