Summary

When Moses stood on a "high mountain" and saw God face-to-face, his first realization was shocking: "Man is nothing." But God didn't leave him there. He revealed a truth that changes everything about how you see yourself and your purpose in this life. Summary: In this episode, we explore the profound "prefaces" to the Bible found in Moses 1 and Abraham 3. We dive into the deep doctrine of our divine identity and the Plan of Salvation. Moses 1: Identity and Discernment. We analyze Moses' encounter with God and his subsequent battle with Satan. We learn how knowing we are sons and daughters of God gives us the power to discern and dismiss the "son of the morning." 0:49.3	By way of introduction, my name is Jared Halverson, originally from Southern California California and fell in love with the gospel as a child.

0:57.8	I fell in love with teaching the gospel as a missionary in the Caribbean and later at the missionary training center.
1:03.0	And I've been teaching it ever since.
1:04.8	I went to a Bible Belt Divinity School, which was interesting, being a token Latter-day Saint there, to study religion.
1:11.2	And my PhD is in American and Rel history, and I specialize in anti-religious rhetoric.
1:16.6	So I study the strange and hateful things that people say to try to shred one another's faith.
1:21.6	That does sound odd, and it is, but I've amazed at how useful that has been,
1:26.8	as I have tried to help other people navigate
1:29.0	their crises of faith. And so I, in the classes that I teach, in these YouTube videos and
1:35.2	podcasts that I produce, in one-on-one conversations I have with people all over the world,
1:41.4	trying to help them navigate a life of faith in a day of doubt.
1:46.5	And it's been an incredible blessing to be able to connect with people all over the world,
1:50.4	to try to help them answer difficult questions and maintain their life of faith.
