Hello, my dear dear friends and welcome back to another year of scripture study here on Unchaken.

To you who are new to the channel or the podcast, I especially welcome you.

Consider the red carpet officially rolled out in your behalf.

By way of introduction, my name is Jared Halverson, originally from Southern California

and fell in love with the gospel as a child.

Reading scripture was my favorite thing.

I fell in love with teaching the gospel as a missionary in the Caribbean and later at the Missionary Training Center.

And I've been teaching it ever since.

The last 23 years in the Seminary Institute program.

And I currently teach institute at the University of Utah.

As far as my own education is concerned, I went to a Bible belt divinity school,

which was interesting, being a token letter they sent there, to study religion.

And my PhD is in American and religious history.

And I specialize in anti-religious rhetoric.

I study the strange and hateful things that people say to try to shred one another's faith.

That does sound odd, and it is.

But I've amazed at how useful that has been as I have tried to help other people navigate their crises of faith.
