And the Morris Day was one of Prince's best friends from back when they were teenagers.

When Prince was 15, he would sometimes bang on the door of Morris's mother's house at 3 a.m. and say,

Yo, let me in, I gotta record a song I just wrote.

You remember the last time you all spoke?

Oh yeah.

Yeah, we had done, well, I'll back up a little bit.

Prince had a habit of, you know, calling me once I went on to do my solo thing and then eventually

resurrected the time again.

He had a habit of just calling me out of the blue at all hours of the night.

You know, I knew if my phone rang at 3 o'clock in the middle of the night,

it's probably Prince. And I never had his phone number

you know once he became the superstar you know so it would be 2.30 in the morning the morning. My phone rings. I knew it was going to be Morris. What are you doing?

You know, another line. And so he had a few times where he would call and say, I want you to be on the show. He had us do a few times where he would call and say I want you to be on the show.

He had us do musicology with him.

We were supposed to do a lot more of the tour. We ended up doing maybe five to ten dates and and then you know that was that and then you know that was that and then a few

other times he called us to be on the show with him and he and he just like had us come to

town and had us sitting around waiting the day of the show I fly my

guys in and get everybody situated and then he I would get a call from Prince we're

supposed to do the target arena with him and last minute he calls or has his handler's call and say

Prince doesn't want you on the show tonight

And I'm like oh really? I was like well, yeah, can I still get my money?

Because I flew my band in and all this and he and they're like, Prince said no.
