this week. We are talking about the very first of the beatitudes. Poor in spirit. Matthew 5. Blessed are the poor in spirit. For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. What does that mean? What does poor and spirit mean? Well, we talked about that yesterday. But now the question is, what does it look like? it look like in the Bible? Isaiah 5715, for thus says the one who is high and lifted up,

who inhabits eternity, whose name is holy. I dwell in the high and holy place.

And also with him, him who, him who, is of contrite and lowly spirit.

To revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.

Oh, that's where I want to be.

I want to be on the high holy hill.

What do I got to be? What does it look like to be poor in spirit? Gideon. Judges 6.

An angel of the Lord comes to Gideon and says, the Lord is with you, almighty man of valor.

God said to him, go in this might of yours and save Israel from the hand of Midian.

Gideon says, God, I can't do this. Moses, Exodus 3, this is when God is talking through the burning bush. Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.

Verse 11, but Moses said to God, who am I?
