Good morning. Welcome to the morning motivation. I'm Mike Slater. This week we're talking about

remembering, the importance of remembering. The Bible talks about it all the time. God commands us

many times to remember. Yesterday, we talked about how we can learn from the mistakes of those

who came before us. Why make all the mistakes of the world yourself? You only have one life. If you can learn

from the mistakes of others and avoid a few of them, think about how much better off you'd be.

Now, one of the consequences of knowing history and remembering and also realizing that

there's nothing new under the sun, one of the consequences of that is it makes you calm.

All we hear about is anxiety in our culture today.

You know, anti-anxiety medications increased 35% in just the two to three months after the beginning of COVID.

Among 20 to 34-year-olds, 3% of men and 6% of women are on anti-anxiety medication,

and among 45 to 64-year-olds, 5% of men, 10% of women.

And one of the thoughts that your brain cycles through when you're anxious

is this has never happened before to anyone i'm the only one

no one knows what i'm going through and it could be even super obvious things like if you have an

family member who's an alcoholic you think no one knows what this is like you're like hundreds of

millions of people know what this is like.

When you know that something's not a unique experience, let's just take alcoholism.
