I feel like I should have put this at the beginning, but maybe it's a good final point to consider as well.

A little cherry on top. We're talking about Jesus saying you are the salt of the earth.

What does that mean to be the salt of the earth? We don't think much of salt today. So when Jesus says to be salt, maybe it doesn't

sound like that big of a deal. You're like, okay, I can be that thing I have in the pantry that I put

on my eggs, I guess. Like, that's weird. I'd be like, if someone's like, you are the celery of the world, I'm like, I don't know what

that means. But back in the day, salt was essential.

Some say that in a certain period of Greek history, salt was called theon, which means divine.

They also called it white gold.

It was so valuable that Roman soldiers were paid in salt

instead of money. The word was salarium, saul, salarium, saul in Latin is salt. And that's where we get

the word salary. Is that amazing? This is's where we get the word salary.

Is that amazing?

This is also where we get the expression.

He's not worth his salt.

So when Jesus said, you are the salt of the earth,

even if people didn't understand the true meaning like we do now,

like the spiritual meaning,

they knew that he was saying that you are something of great importance.

And the key is,

you are. You are, not the government, you. The problems in our country are not legislative problems.
