After 11 days of fighting between the two sides, with Egypt mediating leaders voted yesterday to end the violence that had killed at least 230 Palestinians and 12 Israelis since last Monday. Both sides claimed victory in the conflict

while warning that attacks could resume if the other side fails to comply with the ceasefire.

Here in the U.S., President Biden pledged support for both Israel and Gaza.

I believe the Palestinians and Israelis equally deserved to live safely and securely

and to enjoy equal measures of freedom, prosperity, and democracy.

My administration will continue our quiet, relentless diplomacy toward that end.

I believe we have a genuine opportunity to make progress, and I'm committed to working for it.

Secretary of State Anthony Lincoln is expected to visit the Middle East in the coming days,

so it's still ongoing in terms of the struggle here.

In a statement, the State Department writes in part that Blanken will meet with leaders to, quote, discuss recovery efforts and working together to build better futures for Israelis and Palestinians.

There is no exact date has been given for this trip.
