All right, at 6 o'clock on the East Coast, welcome to Morning Joe on this Tuesday, November 2nd.

And you know what that means today, is election day, one of the

most highly anticipated off-year election days in recent history with consequential races and ballot

initiatives in a number of states. In Virginia, Democrat and former governor, Terry McCallough,

looks to hold off the surging momentum of Republican Glenn Yonkin in what many say is a test of the national political landscape.

In New Jersey, recent polls show Republican challenger Jack Chittarelli cutting into the lead of incumbent Democrat Governor Phil Murphy in a state president

Biden won by 16 points last year, just last year. New York City will decide its next mayor,

and Democrat Eric Adams seeks to become just the second black mayor in the city's history

if he defeats guardian angels founder

Curtis Sliwa. And in Minneapolis, a ballot measure is asking voters if the city should amend

its charter to replace the police department with a new department of public safety.

Yeah, a lot going on there, Joe. I think Virginia is the one we're looking at, though, don't you?

Well, you know, Virginia is an important one to look at.

We're going to talk a lot about that, but also Willie Geist.

New Jersey, this is a state that's not been close for such a long time.

Biden won by 16 points there,

won by 10 points in Virginia. But even that New Jersey race is starting to get close.

Now, it's always important. We remember what Tom Brokaw said to us the day before we were

all shocked by Hillary Clinton's shocking win in New Hampshire back in 2008 when many people

thought that actually Barack Obama was going to finish her off there and then.

And Tom had been warning us all long.
