Mormons have had a love affair with the Dead Sea Scrolls for over 50 years now,

and often they point to incredible and even miraculous parallels between the Dead Sea Scrolls

and the Book of Mormon as evidence for

the proof of the Book of Mormon and Mormonism writ large. What should we make of those parallels?

I'm so excited about tonight show. I can't even hardly stand it.

This has been a topic that I know that you dabbled in in your early time in the church.

I did more than dabble, my friend. I waited. You waited. Nice. You went into the deep end.

The Dead Sea Scrolls are a fun topic that in the 80s and 90s

in the 2000s it was one of the the main things people would pull out to to display evidence as the church

is true and there were people going around and doing circuit tours and so we'll talk about some of

that tonight but i'm really excited that you picked this topic this week.

For those of you who watch Mormonism after dark and may have been expecting a guest on the show,

we had talked with Professor Allison Schofield from Denver University.

And our, you know, we made this plan really in short order. It was just Friday and it was sort of as a lark and she agreed and things didn't end up working out.

Hopefully we'll be able to have her on the show at a later date. So here's what it is about the Dead Sea Scrolls.

I'm just so glad because I've been meaning to do a show about the Dead Sea Scrolls forever because it's a big part of my time in Mormonism.
