Summary

It’s Monday cult babes, and we’re nearing the end of Cult-vember! In this week’s episode we are primarily focusing on the deadly aftermath of Ervil LeBaron’s cult which were covered in ‘Mormon Manson’ and ‘Mormon Manson: Ervil’s Revenge.’ This is our ‘finale’ of the LeBaron family coverage. It’s been said that violent death seems to follow these people, and that much I know to be true.  Write me: [email protected] Follow along online: instagram.com/cultliterpodcast Check out my new show OBITCHUARY wherever you’re listening now!  Sponsors:  Hello Fresh: HelloFresh.com/CultLiter14 for up to 14 free meals + 3 free gifts! Hello and welcome back to Cult Leader. I'm your Cult Leader, Spencer Henry, and we are nearing the end of Cult Vember.

0:45.0

Only time will tell what December holds for the Cult. It's Thanksgiving week, my little turkeys. I will be in my happy place, Palm Springs, with my family per usual.

0:54.0

Well, except for last year, but we don't talk about 2020 here. It's so last year. I have so much to be grateful for, which is what I use Thanksgiving as. A time to be grateful, spend with family.

1:07.0

But a large chunk of that is all of use babes, and getting to spend every week together. Hey, most weeks we're together three times a week. We're like co-workers.

1:16.0

Well, we're more than co-workers. Are we more than friends? I mean, you said it. You said it. I'm still waiting for the day that we get to have our Cult compound and just do our Cult shit all day.

1:26.0

After last week's discussion on churches and taxes, it got me brainstorming. I'm like, imagine we can just found the Church of Cult Leader. See it? It has a ring to it already. Rolls off the tongue, or we could just complicate it. Make it real crazy for them.

1:41.0

Like the first born Church of the Hot Dog of Fulness of Cult of Leader. We love it. Trademarked. Don't copy me. I hope you all have some sort of fun plan. Maybe a little fun friends giving. Maybe an insufferable family dinner. Full of political discussions. No. We don't want that. Nobody wants that.

2:03.0

We're gonna get right through it. We're gonna get through it together. Hey, if you need to, pause this. Wait, listen to the episode when you're driving. Listen to it at the dinner table. Put your iPod head phone in and just tune them out, baby.

2:18.0

Hopefully everyone is excited. What's that you ask? What are my favorite Thanksgiving sides? Okay, I'll tell you. I love a green bean casserole. I'll say it. Not my favorite, but it's up there. It's in my top three. Love a green bean casserole. Love a mashed potato, obviously. Okay. We love a mashed potato. What else? Mac and cheese? Gotta have a good mac and cheese.

2:42.0

Everything else. Take it to leave it. I don't like cranberry sauce. I'm not a huge sweets person, but I'll indulge in a little slice of pie. Really just green beans and mashed potato. Honestly, my last meal would probably be green beans and mashed potatoes. I love them. It's been so smokey here lately. I probably sound dried out. I feel dried out. It is so smokey here. I'm just all kinds of confused by the outside world right now because it's also getting dark. Is this normal?

3:11.0

Is it normal that it gets dark at 4.45? That drives me absolutely nuts. Every time I go to record, I have to make sure that before I close the office door, I go out and I turn all the lights on in my apartment. Because otherwise, guess what?

3:23.0

There's been so many times now where I'll go in to record and it's light out and then I'll be like, all right, I'm done. And then I'll open the office door because I will not let myself leave until I've finished everything. And I'll walk out and I can't see anything because it's so dark. I hate it. This is like the worst.

3:39.0

Give me light until 8 p.m. Like I want to go to dinner at 8. I want to walk around and have it still be light after. This is not for me. What else do I want to talk to you about?

3:48.0

Oh, I watched a movie this weekend and I had no idea how I hadn't heard of it before. I guess it came out at the end of October. It's called Last Night in Soho and it was fantastic. I loved it. The best way that I can explain it.

4:01.0

This is how I described it to my friends. It's Midnight in Paris, if it was a thriller. It also takes place simultaneously between present day and then like 60s glam London.

4:12.0

It has Anya Taylor Joy from The Queen's Gambit, who I think is just so cool. I really loved The Queen's Gambit. The whole thing is just such a vibe.

4:21.0

I started watching that Bond Dutch thing that a lot of you guys are talking about on Hulu, but I fell asleep twice. So maybe I need to watch it in the daytime or something. I don't know. I don't even know the full story behind it obviously because I haven't finished it.

4:32.0

But I'm like, does everything need a Hulu special? Does there need to be true, crime-ish, dark mini series about a trucker hat company? I don't know. Maybe it does. Maybe it's a thrilling story and I just haven't given it the time of day. Has anyone watched it yet?

4:47.0

Well, some of you guys sent it to me so I'm gonna assume yes. Let me know if it's worth it because I trust you.

4:53.0

Alright, on to business. All month we've really been talking about this LeBaron case. We've been talking about herbal LeBaron, all his bullshit, and researching for these episodes was really eye-opening in a lot of ways, especially for me who knows nothing about nothing except for a little something about something.

5:11.0

I did see someone comment about the Vice thing. It's called Cartel versus Mormons. I think that's the name. I don't know. You can search that online. I'm sure it'll come up. I think I watched it on YouTube.
