Summary

Have you found some renewed energy now that the season is changing and the kids are back in school? Now is the perfect time to start some tiny habits to make the most of that fall mojo! Today, Meagan and Sarah share some of our small habits that are making a big difference for us this fall, along with the driving principles behind them. While some habits impact our morning and bedtime routines (like skin care, water before coffee and learning Finnish), others are woven into our busy weeks whenever we get the chance (like picking up and reading the local paper). And never forget: while we may seem like we have it figured out at times, some areas of our lives are still chaos, this fall and always. Enjoy!

LINKS MENTIONED:

  • We will have a final check-in in a few weeks of the goals and intentions we each set for 2022. Here’s our last check-in from earlier this year.
  • Meagan uses the free version of Duolingo each morning to learn Finnish.
  • Meagan shared her skincare routine in the post Why I’m Embracing Midlife Skincare Monogamy.
  • Sarah can’t get enough of the Todoist app (affiliate link – get 2 months of Pro free!) for managing her to-do list (you can listen to her detail how she uses it in this episode of Best Laid Plans).
  • Interested in gua sha (which Meagan talked about having an at-home routine similar to)? We learned a lot from this Good Housekeeping article

Hi, I'm Sarah and I'm Megan. We're two moms with eight kids between us from

little to grown. We're in different areas of the country and in different stages

of life, but we both know that motherhood's a lot easier when real moms share

0:12.7

tips and encouragement. And remind you that it's really all gonna be okay. We're

0:16.6

not experts. We're parents who've been there. We're not perfect. We're real.

Francis here with Sarah Powers. Hi, Sarah. Hi, Megan. How are you? Well, I'm

0:31.9

glad to be here on a Sunday for one of our more than mom episodes, which I

0:35.6

think are maybe our favorite to record. This is when we talk about stuff that

0:39.5

isn't necessarily like parenting advice. It's more just a glimpse into our

0:44.6

lives and goals and sometimes cabinets and showers and drawers and

0:51.1

purses. Our mom life, right? Our more than mom life. So this is a really fun

0:55.8

episode today because we talk obviously a lot about routines and habits and

1:00.3

things like that because I feel like it's just always something I'm thinking

1:04.0

about as a mom and yeah, of course, we both always are. But this is really fun

1:09.9

because we're kind of revisiting this idea of small habits or tiny habits, which

1:14.3

I feel like has had a moment for the past several years. They can be very

1:17.7

impactful as we know. But we kind of are doing it a little bit differently because

1:22.3

one thing I think can be a little tricky is when you hear someone else talk

1:26.9

about the habits they incorporate in their lives, but you don't understand

1:31.7

like what the reason is or how you can apply it to your life if like you don't

1:36.8

want to do that exact thing. Maybe their thing is they get up first thing
