All About Crime. I'm Mama Jules, and I'm going to do a couple of shorter stories that were listener recommendations. We'll do those first. Then I'll finish with a comprehensive update to a story I brought you in March.

Now we've got more than half a sheriff's office being indicted for criminal activity in Colorado.

Then a school principal in Oklahoma who thwarted a school shooting. And then a very brief update to the case of Lakin Snelling and the murder of her newborn baby.

Then we will jump into a lengthy update to the dead and missing scientists.

So let's get into it.

Remote Colorado, a tiny rural

staff of law enforcement officers who just can't seem to get it together. This is Costilla County,

tucked away down in the southern San Luis Valley. It's one of the oldest continuously settled Hispanic

communities in Colorado, with roots going back to the 19th century land grants.

The whole county has only about 3,500 people, and they're spread across more than 1,200 square miles.

The county seat, San Luis, is the oldest town in Colorado, with a population of about 600 people.

And most folks here are farmers that are growing potatoes and barley, or they work in the tourism

spots near the great sand dunes just up the road. But a lot of the land is just kind of rugged.
