Summary

EP. 256: In this episode, I'm sharing my personal hormone journey and what decades of clinical experience treating fit, healthy, middle-aged patients taught me about HRT, menopause, and why so many perimenopausal and menopausal women are suffering unnecessarily. After years of working with highly fit, health-conscious patients, I saw a clear pattern: as hormones decline, even the most disciplined women can experience sudden weight gain, chronic pain, injuries that won't heal, and devastating mental and emotional shifts. Topics Discussed: → What are the real benefits of HRT for women over 40? → Can low estrogen cause joint pain and injuries? → Why do fit women struggle during menopause? → How does hormone imbalance affect mental health? → When should you start hormone replacement therapy? And I think it's a pretty interesting story, actually. And I also wanted to talk about

0:22.9

my patient's experience and just a little bit more about my clinical practice for the length of my

practice. I actually was taking care of middle-aged women that were very fit. So I feel like I have

0:36.6

some authority to speak on this topic. And we're

0:39.2

going to wrap it all into an episode that I think is going to be really valuable for you. If you're

I am 52 years old. I have been utilizing HRT since I was in my 30s, my early 30s. And that would be everything

0:56.3

from progesterone to thyroid hormone, adrenal hormone. In my 40s, I started using testosterone,

1:03.5

and then in my late 40s I brought in estrogen regularly, although I had dabbled with estrogen

on and off through the years. And I want to explain

1:12.7

how my journey went because I think that a lot of you could probably relate. And I want to tell you

1:19.1

how I treated my patients because I think a lot of you could relate. And it's not quite what a lot

Traditionally, until more recently, traditionally, it was very difficult to get your hands on HRT.

1:46.9

didn't need hormones until you had stopped menstruating for at least a year. And I want to share

1:53.9

with you that if I had listened to that advice, I don't think I'd be here. I honestly don't think

I would have made it. And I think a lot of women
