Summary
On the April 10, 2023 episode of /Film Daily, /Film Editorial Director Peter Sciretta is joined by /Film staff writer Ryan Scott to discuss the latest film and tv news, including Mario’s Box Office, and some more Star Wars news from Celebration.
In The News:
- Ryan: The Super Mario Bros. Movie Smashed The Box Office Record For A Video Game Movie - And That's Just The Start
- The Super Mario Bros. Movie Breaks Video Game Movie Records With $195 Million Box Office Debut
- https://twitter.com/ryanscottwrites/status/1645220567467819008?s=61&t=-me0tBfTfdrDQenJIK7xRQ
- Mid-Roll Sponsor break: “we’re going to take a quick break, and we’ll be right back”
- The 'Star Wars' crawl is coming back, says Kathleen Kennedy
- "The crawl's coming back.” When asked by EW if the crawl would be returning only for the Rey film, Kennedy was equally direct. "No. The crawl is for movies."
- Star Wars Projects Like Rogue Squadron And Lando Aren't Dead Or Shelved, Says Kathleen Kennedy
- IGN: 'Rogue Squadron,' that definitely is something that we still talk about. "Whether it's a movie or whether it ends up being in the series space, that's definitely something."
- Lando: "I can just tell you it's still happening and [Donald Glover is] very excited about it."
- Kevin Feige's Star Wars Movie Never Really Got Off The Ground, But Kathleen Kennedy Is Open To Ideas
- "Kevin Feige's project was something announced in the press, or I guess, fandom, but there was, nothing ever got developed. We never discussed an idea, because as everybody knows, Kevin is a huge 'Star Wars' fan. And if, you know, he did come up with something, I would be all ears, but that's never really happened, so. [...] It's not an abandoned project, it just didn't happen."
- Lars Mikkelsen Confirmed As Grand Admiral Thrawn In Ahsoka
- Skeleton Crew Will Give Young Star Wars Fans A New Entry Point To The Franchise
- We're seeing the opportunity for fans to find where their entry point is. In Star Wars there's a lot of things now going back almost 50 years so it you don't want people to feel like they have see everything in order to step into Star Wars and we also want to look at the generational aspect of Star Wars, it's always been something that's been passed down so something like Skeleton Crew, we're really excited about because you know that's it's aimed at younger kids but will still bring in the fans, still bring in adults. But that's an opportunity for a kid that … can step into Star Wars and make it their own. And I think that's the beauty of the storytelling that's going on now is that everybody can kind of find where their entry point is.”
