If you're hitting the road for Memorial Day weekend, buckle up and stay alert. Last year, Washington State saw the highest number of

traffic fatalities since 1990. We'll talk with Seattle Times reporter Nick DeShay about what's

behind the increase and what solutions are in the works. But first, let's get you caught up.

Thank you. Let's get you caught up. Seattle City Council is considering Mayor Bruce Harrell's proposed $1.4 billion

transportation levy this week.

You can have your say as well this afternoon at the first of two public hearings.

The draft levy would raise money for transportation projects over eight years via a fee paid by property owners.

It works out to about $200 additional dollars each year for those that own a home at the Seattle median price of $800,000.

If you have thoughts but can't make it today, there's

another public hearing, June 4th. It's a no-go for Boeing's Starliner again. The company has

scrubbed several launches, including one set for today. Boeing says Friday is the next opportunity

to send two crew members into space for a week aboard the

International Space Station. The most recent delay was due to a helium leak in the service module.
