| 0:00.0 | B-Pod Studios And now, I'm just trying to spell it out for the list. Felger and Mazz. S-T-O-O-O-P-I-D. T-E-P-I-D. B-O-B, boom. Isn't that, Bob? Felger and M-A. Q-U-I-T-Q-K. Okay, thank you. No, spell up for me, too. |
| 0:38.8 | I'm an idiot. 985, the Sports Hub. Hour 2, Felger and Mazz. Are you back? I'm back. I don't know if you know when you cut out or just, you know, if you want to finish your thought because you did get cut off there. Oh, God, I can't remember what I was saying. |
| 0:39.5 | Are you kidding me? |
| 0:38.8 | It's... out or just, you know, if you want to finish your thought, because you did get cut off there. Oh, God, I can't remember what I was saying. Are you kidding me? As soon as it leaves my mouth, it's out of my brain. That's the end of it. The caller mentioned the TPE, is that what we're calling that trade exception, you know? What do you think is coming with this trade exception? because again, when it first happened, I said, oh, okay, you can kind of use it in free agency. |
| 0:57.4 | If you turn a free agent signing into a sign and trade, that's close to a max slot. It's going to be around $30 million. So, you know, in a dream world, you can sign Janus, get together with Milwaukee, make it a sign and trade, use that exception to sign yannis so like let's dream big and let's think about that and then i was disabused of that notion by the hardcore cap guys in the NBA who tell me no there's the apron and you know just because i don't want you driving off the road and killing yourself i'm not going to describe it but there a hard cap implication there, and you run up against other constraints that you can't really do that, and that's not really what that's going to be used for. It's going to be sort of probably chipped away at a series of smaller moves, if anything. Most trade exceptions go by the wayside in or never used. So I was disabused of that notion by the fancy pants NBA cap guys. |
| 1:47.2 | Stu, what do you think is the ultimate goal with that trade exception? |
| 1:51.0 | They're going to get a player for about $20 million. |
| 1:54.2 | Or they're going to get two players for like $15 million and $5 million. |
| 1:59.2 | And those players that they get, you're going to go, who are they? |
| 2:02.8 | Why are they here? |
| 2:03.9 | And then they're going to be able to match those players' salaries with a good player, |
| 2:09.4 | like a Jalen Brown and Marcus Smart, and get the player that they really want. |
| 2:13.4 | Got it. |
| 2:13.7 | So like, and it's because of this apron business, you can't just flat out do the thing I just said. But the way around that is to use that exception on a couple of other big contracts, use that as the matching money for your Janus or whoever and approach it that way. Have I described that properly, Jimmy? It is. Would you like me to describe it from the email that I sent you or would you like to read the email yourself? We just did it. We just did your email. Murray heard that email this morning and answered it. Well, who's the player, Jimmy? Who are they going to eventually flip all these guys for? Thank you. Yeah. Um... So I asked who are the transcendent players out there? |
| 2:52.7 | Who are the true transcendent game-changing players like a Kevin Garnett? |
| 2:57.2 | And there aren't many. |
| 2:58.7 | It's LeBron. |
| 2:59.7 | He's not coming here. |
| 3:00.8 | It's Kevin Durant. |
| 3:01.7 | He's not coming here. |
| 3:02.9 | Anthony Davis isn't coming here. |
| 3:04.5 | Yonis, I think you have a chance for. |
