Summary

Karen Kroft was in the Independent Fundamental Baptist Movement for 43 years.

She talks about being raised with immense fear of government and then, moving from one fearful situation to another when her dad moved them from Nebraska to Oklahoma City, where he served on staff at Windsor Hills Baptist Church – a church she described as β€œmore Hyles than Hyles.” The pastor was domineering, cover ups were commonplace, and the congregation was scared.

To give a sense of what type of place Windsor Hills Baptist Church is – consider this, The SPLC added them to their list of 20 hate groups operating within Oklahoma in 2013.

She shares what led to her eventual exit from the movement and – after 43 years experience – whether she thinks there is potential for reform of the IFB.

I’m so thankful that Karen was willing to share her story with us, and I know it’s going to be a huge encouragement to all of you.
