| 0:00.0 | Welcome, everyone to the score fantasy football podcast. |
| 0:17.2 | I'm your host, Justin Boone. |
| 0:18.6 | We got a lot of news. |
| 0:19.9 | We got a lot of mailbag questions to cover today. So I want to jump right in. No chit chat off the top. Let's just do it. And we'll start with some of this news. We had an injury scare on Wednesday. David Montgomery went down. He was reportedly carted off. There were some people who wanted to debate that. But what matters here is he avoided a potentially catastrophic injury. It's not his knee or anything like that. It's a groin. Now, at the moment, we don't know how long he's going to be out. But purely judging on the amount of pain that he seemed to be in, I would guess that he misses some time. Now, that is not a medical expert's opinion. That's simply my opinion here. |
| 0:55.1 | But he could miss some time at the start of the season. |
| 0:57.5 | So that bumps him down just a little bit in my rankings, puts him below the Cam Acres, the |
| 1:03.4 | Kareem Hunts, maybe more into that Jordan Howard type of territory. |
| 1:07.6 | So I would be looking to grab, you know, Ronald Jones, those guys all above him now. |
| 1:12.1 | And depending what we hear from the test results, that could change. Now, there's really nobody |
| 1:16.7 | to pivot to in that backfield. Tariq Cohen, he's going to remain the past catching specialist, |
| 1:21.3 | gives him a little bit of a bump in value. Other than that, you got backups like Ryan Null |
| 1:26.3 | and rookie Artavis Pierce, not really great options. |
| 1:29.8 | So if Montgomery is going to miss some time, I would look for them to go and get a free agent, |
| 1:34.9 | maybe a Devont of Freeman, maybe an Isaiah Crowell. |
| 1:37.2 | We haven't heard that name in a while here. |
| 1:39.5 | Maybe one of those guys ends up on the Bears, but hopefully we're going to get Montgomery |
| 1:43.9 | back pretty soon and we won't have to worry too much about his value, or at least his absence extending too far into the season here. But it's just all around. It's a bad situation for fantasy because Montgomery was already devalued due to the limited past catching role he had. So if you want to take the discount right now with him, I'm not opposed to that. You know, he's going to fall a few rounds, I would guess, so you can grab him at a bit cheaper of a cost. But otherwise, I'm okay with just staying away from this backfield altogether. Another starting running back dealing with some sort of injury, though the Cardinals haven't really given us too much information. Kenyon Drake in a walking boot. That came out a little bit earlier this week. |
| 3:08.0 | People... with some sort of injury, though the Cardinals haven't really given us too much information. Kenyon Drake in a walking boot, that came out a little bit earlier this week. People absolutely freaked out about this one. Understandably so. I get that it's scary. It's not ideal to have a guy who's a first or second round pick and fantasy in a walking boot in August, but the team seemed pretty relaxed about it. Drake seemed pretty relaxed about it. They were calling it precautionary. Drake even pointed out that this time last year, he was in a walking boot then too and he didn't miss any time. So I'm not overly concerned here. I would still take him in the first round. That's where I have him valued. Normally he does fall to the second and with this news, I think you're likely going to be able to get him in the second round. But let's keep a close eye on this one. And it's all the more reason to try to snatch up Chase Edmonds in the later rounds of your draft, right? Because we saw what he could do last year, 150 yards from scrimmage, three touchdowns and his loan start. So he's a very exciting handcuff. |
| 3:12.9 | One of the elite backup running backs out there and a guy that whether you own Drake or not, |
| 3:15.0 | somebody I'm trying to get on my rosters. |
| 3:16.5 | Sony Michelle here. |
| 3:18.4 | Next up, he returned to practice. |
