Summary
11-year-old Jaimie Cates and her mother, 42-year-old Kimberly Cates, were brutally attacked in their Mont Vernon, New Hampshire home in the early morning hours of October 4th, 2009. Jaimie was able to survive by pretending to be dead, but her mother was fatally stabbed over 32 times with knives and a machete. Authorities had no idea who could have done this until a teenage boy told his mother he needed to talk with the police. His friends, 17-year-old Steven Spader and 19-year-old Christopher Gribble, had come to him bragging about the attacks, and the horrifying story unfolded from there.

| 0:00.0 | Welcome to 10-minute murder, brief and bingeable true crime. I'm Joe, the host, and thank you for joining |
| 0:22.3 | today. All right, so the next few episodes of the podcast will not be hosted by me. I'm going to be |
| 0:28.3 | away on a work-related trip, and as I started to prepare episodes in advance, I thought |
| 0:33.4 | wouldn't it be a lot cooler if I reached out to a few true crime podcast creators that I personally |
| 0:38.6 | listened to and see if they're interested in doing an episode for 10-minute murder. |
| 0:43.4 | Now, I understand that trying to cram a whole murder case with information into 10 minutes is |
| 0:48.8 | nearly impossible. So I didn't ask them to do that. Just simply make an episode about any case at any length. |
| 0:55.6 | And again, by the way, these episodes, the next few of them are by creators that I regularly |
| 1:00.4 | listen to. |
| 1:01.9 | And yes, I did practice saying regularly. |
| 1:05.2 | It still sounds weird. |
| 1:07.1 | Anyway, you can find where to subscribe and connect with them in the show notes of this episode. |
| 1:11.9 | The one today is from Katie and Liz of True Crime New England. |
| 1:17.7 | Hi, I'm Liz Corey. |
| 1:19.4 | And I'm Katie King. |
| 1:20.5 | And we're from the podcast, True Crime, New England. |
| 1:23.8 | Huge thank you to Joe for reaching out to us and asking us to guest hosts an episode. |
| 1:28.8 | We are so excited. |
| 1:30.3 | And we're so thankful. |
| 1:32.2 | For those of you who are not familiar with our podcast, we cover cases across all six states of New England. |
| 1:41.9 | Supposedly the six safest states in America. Our episodes and the cases we cover say |
| 1:48.5 | otherwise. We cover crime cases anywhere from murder to abductions, suspicious deaths. We have a plane crash |
