The final round of the 2023 Mountain Bike Downing World Cup is upon us. So this is your Maxis

0:08.5

tyres pre-race show for Monson and with Chris Kill Murray. Maxis is synonymous with racing and is

0:13.6

the name that comes to mind when you think of performance. It's no surprise then that they've won

0:17.8

more than any other brand in the history of World Cup racing. No matter where or how you ride, Maxis has the tyres for you with a wide range of tread patterns, casing and compound options. On my Enjuro bike, I'm running the DHR2 Maxtera double down on the rear, paired up with the Assegai Max grip up front with a slightly lighter XO plus casing. On the downhill bike, I've gone for DHR2, front and rear, both in the DH casing and both with their super grippy max grip compound. Both of those setups are working awesome for me, but check out the range and see what's going to be good for you. You can check out the entire range of Maxis tires over at Maxis.com and find the tires at your local Maxis dealer. You can also give them a follow on Instagram where they're at Maxis bike. All right, it's time to check in with Chris Kilmurray to find out what to expect this weekend. What are the demands of the Monson and track? Is the cold going to impact the riders? Is it going to snow? And plenty more. So without further ado, here's your Maxis Tires pre-race show for the 2023 downhill World Cup finals in Montanah.

Chris Kilmurray, welcome back, fresh off some travel, I'm guessing, from a pretty insane weekend in snowshoe.

1:25.7

Yeah, it couldn't be any more fresh off to travel. I think midnight arrival a month in Ann last night.

1:30.8

Seven hours sleeping, here we are.

1:32.9

Amazing.

1:33.6

What a race that was, though, hey?

1:35.3

Like, across the board, it was a pretty exciting weekend in snow shoe.

1:39.3

Yeah, insane weekend in snow shoe.

1:41.7

I got half of FMD annoy me am in the background. Thanks guys.

1:49.9

Yeah, as per standard, standard snowshoe weekend. Like, whatever do we expect of a snow shoe,

1:57.0

only that, any drama, you know? So the women's racing was really exciting. The top three separated by 0.6, Tanyan 4th, 2.6 back, Gloria Scarsie with another podium. And then obviously the men's racing is kind of unprecedented. You couldn't have written it. He couldn't have bet on it. It wouldn't have even been in the book he used to bet on, I think, you know, an Irish one, too with O'Sheen and Ronan. So yeah, and Dakota on the podium, two junior men, first and second,

2:23.0

two Americans at home on the podium the day before. The whole thing is just, there you go.

2:28.6

Yeah, as an Irish rider yourself, like pretty exciting to see those boys kind of backing up what they've always I guess had

2:36.6

in the tank it's just never quite come to fruition so super excited to see those two boys execute

2:41.8

yeah like honest I suppose Ronan's you know if you talk about Ronan first he's just he's been

2:48.8

known as the wild practice guy the last couple of seasons as he's as he's matured a little bit, definitely got stronger. His approach to riding has become more, more possible as he's able to take the big hits and impacts. And he got his first podium last year in Snowshoe, backed up in another podium again this year in Snowshoe. And he's been just getting a little bit more consistent and even talking to him after the race he was saying he's starting to figure out what his pace is that's good enough

3:11.8

to you know to be near the front end of the field so he's starting to get a field for that now which

3:15.9

is amazing then obviously Ushin um junior world champ 2020 kind of like Reese a lot of people and

3:22.7

cammy balanche a lot of people were like ah yeah, yeah, mud, raised, COVID, nah, nah, nah, nah. But Reese came good afterwards, you know, winning World Cups and being one of the top dogs. Most certainly Cammy did. And now O'Sheen's back again, there you go. And he's had a tough time, I think, the last 18 months or so with little small injuries and setbacks and everything else. and regardless of whether you're one time or two-time Junior World Champ, the transition to elites is never straightforward. It's your own journey, you know, and it's not really, look, it's not taking Oshin much longer than it's taken Valley Hull to win a race, basically. So obviously, Valley's won a lot more now. But yeah, it's cool to see it. It's just
