A monster storm is about to hit millions of people in the U.S. with catastrophic ice and snow.

The storm's path will stretch over 2,000 miles from Texas to New England, as it tracks east through the weekend.

As of Friday afternoon, at least 15 states in Washington, D.C., have declared a state of emergency

to help free up and mobilize resources to respond to and prepare for the storm.

One of those states is Georgia, where officials say it's been 12 years since the state has seen

a storm of this magnitude.

When you're talking an inch of ice, that rivals some of the biggest ice storms we've ever had in this state.

And not only you're talking about impossible travel conditions, you're talking about power allergies that may not be able to be fixed for days.

Thousands of flights have been canceled, according to Flight Aware.

More than half of all Americans will experience sub-zero wind chills in the next week.
