about issues in the world of business, finance and economics. I'm Andrew Palmer, the Business Affairs

editor and I'm joined by Callum Williams, our economics correspondent and Edward McBride, the finance editor.

And today we're going to be talking about US GDP numbers and jobs numbers to come,

as well as a kerfel in the world of asset management.

Callum let's start with you and look at the US economy. We had numbers on

first-quarter performance last week and this week we have jobs numbers.

Let's look back and look forward and give us a sense of where the economy is.

So the numbers that came out on Friday were not very good.

In the first quarter the economy contracted

by 0.7%, which was a downward revision from the first estimate of first quarter of GDP.
