And we want to step back a bit from the day's news and instead talk about kind of the year that was and the year that will be.

And I want to begin by asking you when you look back at 2017 as an investor, how about one takeaway?

The resilience of the stock market was a bit of a surprise for me.

I thought that I thought we would probably have a year and again predicting the market is fraught with issues

but I thought we would probably have a year that somehow reverts to the mean this would be a typical year.

For the S&P 500 to be up 20% is, the dial will even more than that, let's say 25% is,

it's not something I would have guessed.

But then you think to yourself, well you know what, if you have low interest rates and low unemployment and positive GDP and

tame inflation, well maybe that is a recipe for a pretty good stock market.
