Today we're looking at how to protect your savings from the record levels of inflation

we're now facing and manage your money during one of the worst affordability crises in living

memory.

Inflation hasn't been this high for 40 years, and at the current

rate, if you do nothing, £1,000 of savings would be worth just over £900 within a year.

And if inflation stayed this high, your savings would have lost around 60% of their value

in 10 years.

Now, the cost of food, fuel, energy, mortgage and rents are of course

all rising fast. It's forcing families to make some very hard choices about how to use what

money they have. Well, Nikki from Cheshire is on the line. Her family are having to make some hard

choices about their budget. But I understand managing to save with the help of a special government scheme called Help to Save.
