Luke 21: 1-4 - 'The widow's mite.'

Catechism of the Catholic Church Paragraphs:

- 2544 (In 'Poverty of Heart') - Jesus enjoins his disciples to prefer him to everything and everyone, and bids them “renounce all that [they have]” for his sake and that of the Gospel. Shortly before his passion he gave them the example of the poor widow of Jerusalem who, out of her poverty, gave all that she had to live on. The precept of detachment from riches is obligatory for entrance into the Kingdom of heaven.

1:39.4

He's already cleansed the temple and now he's teaching in the temple for the last few days of his life.

1:45.1

Just prior to this, so at the end of chapter 20, he has denounced the scribes, and he particularly

1:50.8

said of the scribes that they devour widows' houses. So he has just said that. What we see here

1:56.9

occurs straight after that, so he's just been denouncing the scribes. And then Luke here says, then Jesus looked up. So it occurs straight after that. So he's just been denouncing the scribes. And then Luke here says,
