And the point of this podcast is to help you understand probably what the literal sense is.

We always need to start with that.

And we're looking at the gospel reading that you would hear at today's Mass.

So if you go to Mass today, you would hear this short reading from Luke chapter 8 verses 16 to 18.

Jesus said to the crowds, no one lights a lamp to cover it with a bowl or to put it under a bed. No, he puts it on a lamp stand so that people may see

the light when they come in. For nothing is hidden, but it will be made clear.

Nothing secret, but it will be known and brought to light.

So take care how you hear, for anyone who has will be given more, from anyone who has not,

even what he thinks he has will be taken away.

So that's our shorter reading today.

What's the context here?

So it's early in Jesus' ministry.

Jesus is speaking to the crowds in Galilee.

He's been giving parables, and he's just finished explaining one of the parables to the disciples.
