Welcome to our rosary meditation.

This is Monday of Holy Week.

Let's begin in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Let's call the mind all those we've promised to pray for.

I would especially like to offer this rosary for Jeannie Sherman and her family.

On Monday morning of Holy Week, Jesus is returning from Bethany, where he spent the night

at the home of his friends, Martha, Mary, and Lazarus. Returning to Jerusalem, he passes by Bethphage, and seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it and found nothing on it but leaves, and he said to it, may you never bear fruit again, and at that instant, the fig tree withered and died. Jesus rendered judgment upon the fig tree

because it was not bearing fruit. Oh, the tree was busy, busy making leaves, but it wasn't

doing what it was supposed to, bearing fruit. God expects us to bear fruit in two ways. First, a life of virtue,

holiness, love and good example, but that is not enough, because that is not the full extent of the

mission. The mission is to go and make disciples of all nations.

Our faith is to be personal, but not private. Are we making the effort to bear fruit by helping

others to deeper friendship with Jesus through our friendship with them.

With everything brought to a halt, this is a God-given opportunity to fulfill our mission,

beginning at home.

And then also, by going out to friends by calling them, by videoconferencing, by taking

walks outside, six feet apart, of course.

But it's still a time to bear fruit.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallow it be your name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
